Premium presence, without the warehouse footprint.

A European client asked HUVIA to develop a premium presentation box for three bottles of wine. The packaging was intended for seasonal gifting programmes, when demand can rise sharply and fully erected rigid boxes quickly consume valuable warehouse space. Although the client had access to local processing capabilities, high rental and labour costs made conventional formats increasingly inefficient to store and handle.

The brief was therefore about more than reducing volume. The new concept needed to travel and store flat, then assemble into a structure with the strength, finish and sense of occasion expected from premium wine packaging. It also needed to keep three bottles securely positioned and create a composed, memorable reveal when opened.

A composed reveal, engineered around three bottles.

HUVIA developed and prototyped a book-style presentation case that opens from the side to display all three bottles together. Its folding paperboard body is designed to lie flat before assembly, reducing the space required for transport and local storage.

Once erected, treated solid-wood rails at the top and base provide structural reinforcement while introducing a warm, natural contrast. Shaped paperboard supports cradle each bottle at the neck and base, helping to keep the set orderly and stable. The wide side-opening format presents the bottles as one considered composition rather than three separate products, creating a more deliberate gifting ritual.

A subtly textured black surface provides a restrained backdrop for gold hot-foil detailing, while the exposed wood adds tactility and visual warmth. Together, these elements give the prototype a composed premium presence without compromising its practical, foldable format.

By reducing the volume of erected packaging and considering easier material separation and recovery from the outset, the concept addresses both logistics and end-of-use handling.
